Plot
A coming-of-age story about families and the special place they live, based on the comic strip “Here,” which shares love, loss, laughter, and life. Richard McGuire. It was first published as a strip in the comic magazine "Raw" in 1989, and expanded into a 300-page graphic novel in 2014. Early in the film, Richard’s father names several towns he says are along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which are actually all along Interstate 80 in PA.

'Here' is the fifth film directed by Robert Zemeckis, starring Tom Hanks, and while it is not a 2.5-hour epic spanning 3 decades like ‘Forrest Gump’, it somehow manages to span 65 million years. This is done through a cinematic trick of the camera sitting in one place, focusing on the living room of a house built in the early 19th century (in New Jersey, USA). We then follow 5 families and their lives in the living room at different times. It’s not all linear, with the main story following Al (Bettany) and Rose (Reilly) who buy a house after World War II, but it’s not too confusing.
The editing is sometimes good, but often unnecessarily boring
They raise their four children there, and Richard (Hanks) is played by Hanks in an aged/’great’ era from ~16. He then meets the aging Margaret (Wright), and we follow them as they age in the house over the decades. There are some beautiful moments, some funny parts, and some sad scenes. Even though it’s a relatively short film, it probably didn’t need at least these 2 stories!
It tries to show the small moments of life that add up to create the human experience
